Take a van to the famous Amphawa Floating Market and Maeklong Train Market

A full day of sightseeing from Bangkok

Hire a driver with some other people and visit Amphawa Floating Market and the Maeklong train market – both amazing places.
Amphawa Floating Market monday
Both Amphawa Floating Market and the Maeklong train market ( (Talad Rom Hub) would be reachable by public transport. However, they are about 2 hours from Bangkok and if you can get a group of people together, it will be way more convenient to hire a van driver for a day. Since a former co-worker and his friends were in Bangkok when I was there, we could rent a driver for 1500B for the day.

Amphawa Floating Market

It took us 2 hours to drive to the floating market. Unfortunately, it then turned out that no boats are there on Mondays (I knew that but the only possibility was to go on Monday). At least,  we could picture it well how crowded and busy it would be on all the other days! There are also lovely restaurants and bars.

Tree Temple

Luckily, there is more to see in that area and so we drove on to Wat Bang Kung, a temple in a tree.
This was quite nice and also there were many people who wanted to take pictures with us white people 🙂

Maeklong Train Market

People started packing up the things so that the passenger train could fit through and once it had passed, all the goods were put on and around the train tracks again. That was fun to watch!

Back in Bangkok, I first needed some sleep since we got up very early, to later be ready for the sky bar on top of Le Boua, known from the Hangover movie.
