Things to do in Valladolid – why Valladolid is worth a stop
In terms of nice colonial cities people mostly mention Merida. However, I found Valladolid to be very charming and easy to navigate. Here you find a few mor reasons why you should spend at least a day and a night in the beautiful city of Valladolid.
Colorful houses
Each street hides interesting gems as many houses are painted in different colors.
A beautiful church with a nice park
Now, that’s a nice park to sit and eat some churros in the evening. There are always vendors to get a desert and I was lucky that they even had a live salsa band on the first night I was there.
Cheap but great cenotes
The cenotes as well as the restaurants in this area are cheaper but I actually found my favorite cenote in Valladid (find out more here (coming soon)).
Eat delicious steak
Since food is cheaper here than at the coast, this city is a good place to eat steak arrachera which has melted cheese on top. Mine was simply delicious!
Valladolid is the center of three main sights
You can easily visit Chichen Itza, Rio Lagartos and Ek Balam while being in Valladolid.
Time difference
Valladolid is one hour behind the costal cities and therefore you can sleep longer in case you travel from that direction:)
